Personnel Deployment Equipment (PDE) systems have been developed over a number of years onto a wide variety of both soft-skinned
and armoured vehicles. The systems are easily fitted and removed from the base vehicle and allow a wide variety of
targets to be catered for. An advantage of this
type of system is that the base vehicle can be
used for other duties when the equipment is
removed.
The standard version has a comprehensive equipment package consisting of the main roof platform, bonnet protector, triple stile side ladders with foot platforms and a heavy duty combination ladder. Safety features also include a handrail system for the main platform.
Stage 2 systems are further enhanced with two sets of combination type ladders and an aircraft entry gantry and the Stage 3 system has a height adjustable forward bridge and step assembly. The system is constructed from aluminium alloy allowing ease of handling together with maximum strength. Finished assemblies are coated in oven baked black
powder coating and the main working surfaces are also treated with a resin based non slip compound for additional grip.
The Defender 110 as shown above features a Stage 3 PDE system and also has an optional fast roping frame (FRF) for rapid insertion over walls and fences (not shown). Combined with a Team Extension Ladder this system can reach over 8 metres fitted to the Defender.

Each system is supplied with a End User Operator’s Handbook covering both the PDE System and Ladder Safety.
