To meet the combat mission faced by ground troops whose Tactical Area Of Responsibility (TAOR) falls within built up areas; Camlock Tactical Systems (in association with AEI Land Systems) have designed and developed the Urban Assault System (UAS) for use with the HMMWV.
The UAS is a compact, lightweight, modular kit that can easily be installed and configured onto any HMMWV with 30 minutes (without requiring any specialist tools and equipment).
To provide the assaulting troops with maximum protection within an armoured version of the HMMWV, the UAS has been specifically designed to allow easy access to the assault platforms (decks) from internal rear and roof hatches.
The total weight of the UAS is only 263kg (578lbs) (dependent on configuration).
The UAS has the ability to be configured to meet any objective, up to 8m (26ft) third floor (3rd storey), tactical
entry.
The Fast Roping Frame (FRF) is specifically designed to allow two assault team
members to fast rope at the same time, thus providing the
capability to deploy an 8 man team over a compound wall
in less than 20 seconds.
